How it all works
This year we’re running three tiers of competition:
Champions League
For higher-level team players.
Challengers League
For lower team players and players below team level.
Legends
Primarily aimed at our social morning tennis gang and senior players.
Events
The Club Champions League and Club Challengers League will each include:
- Women’s Singles
- Men’s Singles
- Women’s Doubles
- Men’s Doubles
- Mixed Doubles
The Legends competition will include:
- Women’s Doubles
- Men’s Doubles
- Mixed Doubles
Competition format
Each competition - Champions League, Challengers League and YTC Legends - will have a group stage followed by a knockout stage.
For the Champions League and Challengers League:
- Group stage matches will be best of three sets, with a 10-point tie-break at one set all
- Knockout matches will be played as a standard best of three sets
For the Legends:
- All group stage and knockout matches will be played as one set. The final will be best of 3 sets with a tie break at 1 set all.
Who Plays in What?
To place players in the right competition, we’ll use the following as a guide:
Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles
- Champions League: 1st, 2nd and 3rd team players
- Challengers League: 4th team, 5th team and below
Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles
- Champions League: Women’s 1st and 2nd team players
- Challengers League: Women’s 3rd, 4th and below
Mixed Doubles
- Champions League: players competing at 1st to 5th team level
- Challengers League: 6th team and below
We will place players and pairs into the correct category before the draw is made.
One Month to Find a Doubles Partner!
If you are entering one of the doubles events, you have until the entry deadline on Tuesday April 28th to find a partner and enter together.
If you would still like to enter but do not have a partner by then, great! You can still enter and we’ll pair you with someone.
Key dates
- Tuesday April 28th – Entry deadline
- Friday May 1st – Group stage draw at the Sports Club
- May / June - Group stage matches
- July / August - Knockout matches
- Sunday August 30th - Finals Day across all competitions
We’re hoping this new format gives more members a competition that feels right for their level, while making the Club Championships one of the highlights of the season.
